Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) Program

Individual Therapy

Alliance' Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Program (EAP) was developed in conjuction with Heron Hill Arabians in Canby, Oregon. Harmony in Motion is used at various times with our private clients but we are excited about the use of EAP with other professionals existing clients. We suggest a 4–6 week EAP experience while the client is in ongoing treatment with the referring therapist. This is one way EAP can facilitate insight and catalyze existing talk therapy models.

Group Therapy

In addition, we encourage group therapists to bring their groups to Heron Hill for occasional group activities. These experientials have the effect of bringing to the surface unresolved conflicts, leadership struggles, and alliances between group members, which can have positive effects on diffucult issues.

Team Building

Another existing use of EAP is with business and corporate groups. These sessions have the effect of bringing out team building stalemates, develop group cohesion and may be 4, 6 or 8 sesisons in length. Ask about this program specifically when you call.

Volunteer

Alliance welcomes anyone who is interested in our Equine program to ask about our volunteer program. In addition, we encourage other professionals who have an interest in EAP to either attend our demonstrations or the volunteer group or both.

Our demo/volunteer meeting schedule is on the 2nd Saturday of each month. The volunteer meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. and the demos begin at 3:00 p.m. Our volunteer meetings are both a brainstorming meeting designed to foster new program ideas and assignment of tasks related to our current program as well as a time to spend time with the horses in preparation for the demo. Our demos are scheduled well in advance and rotate themes that may be of social interest to you.

If you are interested in getting experience first hand with Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, our volunteer group is made especially for you. Call Alliance today to find out more about this exciting opportunity.
